Samsung forayed into the foldable phone segment earlier this year with the launch of the Galaxy Fold. While the company is gearing up to launch its next foldable phone, W20 5G in China on November 19, and it may just as well be a 5G-capable Galaxy Fold. The smartphone has been spotted on TENAA with preliminary specs.
W20 5G was previously believed to be a new clamshell foldable phone since it is the successor to W2019 and W-series smartphones have been flip-phones. Furthermore, at the Samsung Developer Conference 2019 in the United States, Samsung teased a vertically folding smartphone too. However, the launch poster for W20 5G released by Samsung showed a design like the Galaxy Fold.
Now, it is highly likely that we’ll have to wait for Samsung’s vertically folding phone as W20 5G could be a Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G. As for the TENAA listing, alleged W20 5G foldable phone for China has been spotted with a model number SM-W2020. Unfolding the device will reveal its flexible 7.3-inch display with a resolution of 1536 x 2152 pixels.
The Samsung W20 5G is said to be powered by an octa-core processor that works at 2.956 GHz, which could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The foldable phone is said to sport 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
In the optics front, Samsung W20 5G could sport a six-camera setup: 12MP + 12MP + 16MP triple camera setup on the back panel, a 10MP + 8MP dual-camera system flanked above the inner screen and a 10MP selfie shooter on the cover display.
The Samsung W20 5G could pack a 4135mAh battery that is said to support 15W fast charging. The phone may come with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
