Samsung Z4 with Tizen 3.0, 4.5-inch display unveiled, to launch in India this month
The device is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM, and sports 5MP cameras on the front and back
Samsung has unveiled a new Tizen-based smartphone called the Z4. The device runs Tizen 3.0 and sports a 4.5-inch WVGA display with 480×800 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The device sports 5MP cameras at the back and front, with LED flash on both sides. The smartphone is also equipped with a 2050mAh battery and supports VoLTE.
“We’re dedicated to providing our customers with devices that offer smarter mobile interactions,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung Z4 brings a simplified mobile experience to first time smartphone users and represents our ongoing commitment to expanding the Tizen ecosystem.”
The Samsung Z4 lets users quickly access different features using different combinations of different physical buttons or swiping the screen. This could be used to launch something like the torch or other features like Quick Talk, which will launch a set of shortcuts localised by region like alarm, call or music. There are also other features like Battery Notifications and Power Planner. Battery Notifications allow users to set customized notifications so they can be alerted when the remaining battery power falls below a pre-set level. Power Planners lets users pick from three different levels to manage their long-term battery use.
Samsung notes that the Z4 will be launching in select countries including India this month and will be available in black, gold and silver depending on the market. It will also be showcased at the Tizen Developer Conference scheduled to be held in San Francisco on May 16 and May 17.
