Samsung integrated AI into several new features introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, including the innovative Instant Slow-mo. Since its debut, Samsung has consistently enhanced this feature through regular updates. The upcoming improvement includes support for HDR10+.
Currently, there’s a limitation where you can’t edit HDR10+ videos or utilise the Instant Slow-mo feature to convert them into slow-motion videos and preserve them in HDR10+ format. Additionally, when saving such videos in SDR (Standard Dynamic Range), you lose the dynamic range of the original footage.

While the official moderator of the Samsung Community forum acknowledged that the feature is in development, they did not specify whether it will be included in the next regular software update or a One UI update. Additionally, the next update is set to introduce support for 480p videos.
The Instant Slow-mo feature leverages AI to generate frames based on the existing frames in a video. These AI-generated frames are then inserted between the original frames to transform any standard video into a slow-motion one. Initially, the feature lacked support for videos in a 1:1 aspect ratio. However, Samsung addressed this limitation by introducing support for the 1:1 aspect ratio through a software update.
Samsung introduced the Instant Slow-mo feature with the launch of the Galaxy S24. Subsequently, the company announced plans to extend this feature to some older high-end smartphones, such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
