Samsung India rumored to launch its Tizen based smartphone on Dec 10
Samsung's Tizen phone will be targeted at the budget segment. Likely to launch this month, the smartphone is likely to feature 4-inch display, dual-SIM connectivity.
Samsung has been long rumoured to be launching its Tizen-based smartphone in India. However, the company hasn't revealed a specific date for the release. According to new reports, Samsung will be launching the Tizen phone in India on December 10 and will be called Z1.
Samsung's Tizen phone is supposed to be aimed at the budget segment. As far as specifications go, the Tizen phone will feature a a 4-inch display, dual SIM functionality and integrated FM Radio. It will have a 3.2 MP rear camera and 512 MB of RAM. It will have 4 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card support.
Samsung had unveiled its first Tizen phone in June this year. Called the Samsung Z, the phone featured a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display and a 2.3 GHz Quad-core processor. However, Samsung reportedly shelved the Z in order to focus on budget Tizen phones.
A lot of smartphone companies are now looking to experiment with new operating systems in order to reduce dependence on Google's Android OS. With Google launching its Android One phones, other smartphone brands have reportedly extensively started looking for alternatives. India, one of the largest smartphone markets, has become the focus of technology giants to market their offerings.
