Samsung has announced it will be launching the Ch@t 222 dual SIM QWERTY phone in India, at around Rs. 3,500. Very similar to its predecessors, the Ch@t 222 has the same 2.2-inch screen and QWERTY layout as the Ch@t 322.

Pricing the non-3G phone so low, Samsung has decided to do away with the Ch@t 322’s 1.3MP camera, and provide a VGA camera instead (video recording available). The phone has no EDGE connectivity either, and gone is the optical trackpad. There are some advantages however – the addition of FM recording, and up to 16GB of microSD storage, instead of 8GB.
Samsung has also promised a rather large battery life, with the 1000 mAh battery rated to deliver up to 12 hours of talktime, and 550 hours of standby time – all of which is perfect if you are the chatty type. The phone, like its Ch@t brethren, will come with a variety of IM, social networking, and email widgets onboard. The Ch@t 222 will be available on shelves soon.
