Samsung finally has a fix for the exploding Galaxy Note 7 issue. The company will roll out a software update that bars the Galaxy Note 7 from charging beyond 60 percent. Of course, Samsung still wants users to return their Galaxy Note 7 devices, but it’s issuing the software update for those who haven’t done so yet. Owners of the Galaxy Note 7 can also check whether their unit is faulty via this website.
The software update will basically shorten the Galaxy Note 7’s battery life. Samsung is cutting 40% battery life in order to keep the battery from overheating, and catching fire. The update will reportedly start rolling out from September 20, for customers in South Korea.
The link to check whether your Note 7 is faulty, though, is not relevant to India, since no units had been sold here. The Galaxy Note 7 was on pre-orders when the battery issues were reported. Hence, Samsung issued its global recall before any of its devices had been sold in the country.
The Galaxy Note 7’s battery issues have caused a lot of property and physical damage to people till now. According to a recent report, a 6-year-old boy was recently a victim to the device as well.
