Samsung teaser hints at CES launch of Galaxy S IV

Updated on 10-Dec-2012

The Consumer Electronics Show is barely a month away, and Samsung has already released a little teaser of something extraordinary that the Korean camp plans on revealing. Speculations abound about what it could be, with the Galaxy S IV being the most likely.

Samsung released the Galaxy S III barely 7 months ago, and rumours of the next iteration of the phone are already rife. It is expected that the Galaxy S IV will tote a near 5-inch display with full HD (1920×1080) resolution. There are also talks of 2GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel rear camera.

If there really is a Galaxy S IV, and if Samsung does plan on releasing it sometime next year, rumours suggested that it would have either been at Mobile World Congress, or possibly even at its own event later in 2013. However, Samsung has just released a little teaser towards CES 2013 that changes the equation completely.

It would appear from the teaser that Samsung has something major to show the world at CES this coming January. The move is a rather confusing one, seeing as how MWC is the ideal platform for anything mobile related. However, CES makes sense too as it has a far larger consumer audience compared to MWC, which is geared mostly towards the mobile industry only.

While the Samsung teaser does talk about a new groundbreaking product, and we’d love nothing more than the S IV to be it, let’s not forget the 8-core ARM processor that Samsung has been developing. The promise from the Korean company has been that 2013 is when their new Exynos chip built on the big.LITTLE ARM architecture will be showcased. Could this be what’s planned for CES and not the Galaxy S IV? Unfortunately, we’ll just have to wait and watch.
