Samsung’s S-Pad: an Android based Super AMOLED tablet to retail in August

Updated on 05-May-2010

Samsung will soon be launching an Android powered tablet PC called the S-Pad, which will have a 7-inch Super AMOLED screen, along with both WiFi and 3G connectivity. Also seen in the Samsung Wave, the Super AMOLED screen will offering pretty stunning clarity even in bright light conditions, and will surely be a major difference in its favour, while we can’t decide how well the button-interface will go down with the general populace.

Out this August, the S-Pad will apparently retail first in South Korea, where it will come bundled with hundreds of e-books, and have access to the Samsung App Store. Asus, HP, and MSI will also have probably released their products by then, so it will be an interesting time to see how they all compete. Samsung is no stranger to the MID or UMPC form-factor, and the combination of the screen with the Android OS one we don’t want to miss. No further specifications are available right now.
