Samsung’s home brewed Tizen OS for smartphones gets delayed again
HIGHLIGHTS

An official at Samsung has said that their smartphone platform Tizen is delayed again but no confirmation on the official launch date was given

Samsung has been constantly working on its very own smartphone platform called Tizen for a couple of years and now sources are claiming that the OS will be delayed once again. An official from the Samsung Electronics’ Media Solution Center in South Korea gave a statement saying that Tizen will take some more time and the launch date has been delayed.

Sadly there was no info regarding when we would officially get to see the OS. Samsung had earlier planned to release a smartphone running on the Linux based platform in early 2014 in a number of countries including Russia and Korea. There is some confirmation regarding a couple of features which say that the OS will support 64-bit processing and LTE-A advanced connectivity.

Several screenshots were leaked in the past showing off the UI but unfortunately no device running the platform has been announced as of yet. Samsung did try out their luck with Bada OS on their Wave series of smartphones a few years back but hardly gained any popularity in the market.

Hopefully in the coming months Tizen will see the light of day.
