Samsung may soon launch Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Galaxy S8
The special edition phone is tipped to have a Pirates of the Caribbean themed UI, which only appears when the user attaches a case to the device
Samsung has a habit of releasing special edition versions of its flagship devices and this time around, we may get to see a Pirates of the Caribbean themed version of the Galaxy S8. According to a report by the Androidguys, the special edition of the phone looks just a regular Galaxy S8, but with a special case and a bunch of other goodies inside a customised box.
The smartphone reportedly features a customised user interface with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. However, this interface only appears when the case is attached, suggesting the use of NFC. The case itself sports an engraved skull logo, while the kit also includes a pirate ring. It isn’t yet known when the company will officially launch the smartphone, but considering that the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean is scheduled to be released on May 26, the company may make the announcement soon.
Samsung has released special edition versions of its flagship smartphones in the past. In 2015, the company launched an Iron Man-themed version of the Galaxy S6 to celebrate the launch of the movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron. Last year, the company launched a Batman-themed Galaxy S7 to commemorate the third anniversary of the videogame, Injustice: Gods Among Us.
