Samsung may call its next phablet Galaxy Note 7 instead of Note 6
The company might skip the number in order to have consistency between its flagship devices
Samsung may choose to skip a number in the Galaxy Note series and name its upcoming device the Galaxy Note 7. According to a report by Korean website, ETNews, the company may choose to do so in order to avoid any inconsistencies that might occur when two flagship products are named differently. A representative of the telecommunication industry told the website, “When Galaxy Note 6 that has its model number lower than Galaxy S7, which is the newest model, is released, it can give out a feeling that it is an outdated phone. It is known that Samsung Electronics has made the numbers same to unify a premium image.” Further, the report also says that the company may introduce a dual-edge screen on the phone along with a curved glass back.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note phablet is tipped to feature a 5.8-inch QHD display and may powered by an upgraded variant of the Snapdragon 820, called the Snapdragon 823. The device is expected to sport 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Further, the device might be equipped with a 4200mAh battery and may have IP68 certification. There are also reports which state that the new Galaxy Note might feature 8GB of RAM and may launch in July
