For some time now, there have been rumours swirling around that Samsung is set to use Snapdragon chips in its upcoming Galaxy S series models. Recent reports reveal that Samsung might exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in all Galaxy S25 models. This trend is expected to continue, with the Galaxy S26 series also likely adopting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.
Popular tipster Ice Universe revealed on Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo that Samsung is planning to exclusively use Snapdragon chips for the Galaxy S26 series, reports SamMobile.

This decision comes as a relief to many fans who appreciate the performance and energy efficiency of Snapdragon processors.
Despite this exclusive partnership with Qualcomm, Samsung might not completely turn its back on its own Exynos processors. According to Ice Universe, Samsung is actively working on its next-generation Exynos chip, codenamed “Ulysses.” This new processor is planned for the Galaxy S27 lineup, which is set to launch in 2027. Ulysses will reportedly be manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 2nm process node (SF2P), expected to be ready by late 2026.

Interestingly, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ were initially expected to use the Exynos 2500 chipset, a 3nm processor designed by Samsung. During its earnings call, Samsung even mentioned the Exynos 2500. However, issues with production yields led the company to abandon this plan and opt for the Snapdragon 8 Elite instead.
With Project Ulysses, Samsung likely aims to restore consumer confidence in the Exynos brand. Hopefully, the next-generation Exynos chip won’t encounter the yield issues faced.
It’s important to note that all the information is based on leaks, Samsung has not officially confirmed the details regarding its chipsets for the Galaxy S25 and S26 models. As with any rumours in the tech world, it’s always wise to await official announcements for the most accurate information.
