Samsung launches metal framed Galaxy Alpha with a heavy price tag
The Galaxy Alpha is Samsung's first smartphone to have a metal frame. The company says there will be more devices with such design soon.
The metal framed Samsung Galaxy Alpha has been launched in India today. The device, which was originally announced about a month ago, has a metal frame, unlike most other Galaxy smartphones.
The device has a 4.7 inch 720p Super AMOLED display along with 32 GB internal memory and 2 GB of RAM. It is powered by the company's own Exynos 5 octa-core SoC. The device also has a 12 MP rear camera, 2.1 MP front camera and runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It runs on an 1860 nah battery and doesn't have the option to fit an SD card.
The Galaxy Alpha is also Samsung's slimmest Galaxy device. It is only 6.7 mm thick and weighs 115 grams.
The device will be sold at Rs. 39,990 in India and will start selling in the first week of October. This is actually a good pricing, compared to Sony's pricing for the Xperia Z3 Compact, although the new Moto X remains much less expensive at Rs. 31,900.
The Galaxy Alpha would be available in India in Black, White and Gold colour options.
