Samsung may be gearing up to launch two new mid-range smartphones in India, under its Galaxy C lineup. Dubbed C5 Pro and C7 Pro, the new smartphones have recently been spotted on import listing site, Zauba. While the Galaxy C7 Pro was spotted in October, the Galaxy C5 Pro appeared on site three days ago, fueling speculations surrounding their imminent launch.
Not much, though, have been revealed about Samsung’s upcoming mid-range smartphones. A solitary source quoted on Weibo that the Galaxy C5 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC, the Galaxy C7 Pro will use the Snapdragon 626 SoC. The Galaxy C7 Pro is also reported to flaunt a 5.7-inch display, and going by the standard Galaxy C5 and C7 smartphones, we may expect sturdy builds and metal-clad designs on the new ‘Pro’ devices.
Samsung has had a consistent influx of new smartphones across varying price ranges. While the likes of Galaxy On NXT have been introduced in the lower-mid range price brackets, Samsung is possibly aiming the upper-mid range prices with the Galaxy C lineup. The Galaxy A line of smartphones also falls in a similar category, and with new devices en route, it remains how Samsung differentiates multiple devices in its extensive portfolio.
The Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro and C7 Pro is expected to be priced upward of Rs. 20,000, and the word on the street is that the new devices will be launched next month, in December 2016. Samsung is also expected to launch its flagship, the Galaxy S8, some time soon. The company is widely expected to pool in all of its resources behind the upcoming flagship, notably to compensate for the exploding Galaxy Note7.
