Samsung has finally launched the next-gen foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. These next-gen foldables are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a lot of AI features. In this article, I am going to compare the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with the recently launched Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Both smartphones are proper flagship phones that are priced above Rs 1.5 lakh. So, let’s begin with the comparison.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs Vivo X Fold 3 Pro: Design

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes with a Gorilla Glass Victus 2-protected body. It weighs 239 grams and is 5.6mm thin when unfolded. Moreover, the smartphone features an IP48 rating and Samsung also claims an aluminum armour as well. On the back, there is still a triple camera setup just like older Galaxy Z Folds, just that the camera rings are slightly bigger now. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes in three colour options; Silver Shadow, Navy, and Pink.

On the other hand, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is the slimmest foldable smartphone in India. It weighs 236 grams and is 5.2mm thin when unfolded. However, it is not as strong as the Galaxy Z Flip 6. It only features an IPX8 rating and there is no mention of any protection on the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. It comes in only one colour, which is Celestial Black.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has better displays

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and has 2600 nits of peak brightness. Coming to its outer display, it is a 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate support. It has 1600 nits of peak brightness.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro offers bigger and even brighter displays. It has an 8.03-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display, which supports Dolby Vision, 10-bit colour, HDR10+, and 120Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it features a 6.53-inch AMOLED display, which also supports HDR10+, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision. Both these displays in the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro have 4500 nits of peak brightness.

Both phones run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

Both, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. However, Vivo offers more with its top-end variant. The X Fold 3 Pro offers up to 1TB storage and 16GB RAM. Whereas, the top-end variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 comes with 1TB storage and 12GB RAM.

Coming to their OS, both smartphones feature UI based on the latest Android 14 OS. Samsung has the upper hand here with its famous Galaxy AI which provides a lot of cool AI features. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro runs on Funtouch 14 OS that also packs some AI features but not as advanced as Galaxy AI’s.

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro

Vivo has Zeiss, Samsung has….nothing

The camera has to go with the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Vivo has been working on its camera for so long, and I have to say that it has come so far. The X Fold 3 pro is equipped with a Zeiss triple camera setup, holding a 50-megapixel main camera, a 64-megapixel Periscope Telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens. For selfies and video calls, it has two 32-megapixel sensors, one on the foldable display and one on the outer display.

Although, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is also packed with good cameras but not as good as Vivo’s, according to the specifications. It also has a triple-camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. For selfies, its outer display has a 10-megapixel shooter and the foldable display has a 4-megapixel shooter.

Battery also goes to Vivo X Fold 3 Pro

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is packed with a 5000mAh battery that supports up to 100-watt fast charging, and 50-watt wireless charging, and reverse wired charging as well. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 runs on a 4400mAh battery with 25-watt fast charging support, 15-watt wireless charging support, and 4.5-watt reverse wired charging support.

Which one is better?

Well, on paper, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro looks way better than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It has a better camera, display, and battery. However, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 beats the X Fold 3 Pro in build quality and software, which also matter a lot. What’s even more interesting is that the X Fold 3 Pro comes for Rs 1,59,999 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 starts at Rs 1,64,999.
