Official teasers posted on YouTube by Samsung for the upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ hint at the camera features which includes super slo-mo, 3D emojis, low-light photography.

Samsung Unpacked 2018, the event where the South Korean tech giant will unveil its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship smartphones, is right around the corner. Samsung is expected to finally take the covers off of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ on February 25 and after a long wait, official teasers of the two premium smartphones have been released by the company. Samsung has posted a total of three teasers on YouTube, each teasing one or the other camera feature coming to the new devices. While one teaser shows off the rumoured Animoji-style 3D Emojis, the other highlights the phones’ low-light photography skills. A third video teaser also hints at Samsung’s rumoured Super Slow-mo feature which can currently be seen on Sony’s Xperia smartphones.

Let’s break down the teasers a little further.

The video above shows the person’s face changing into an Animoji right at the end. An obvious camera feature lifted from the Apple iPhone X. In Samsung’s case, the feature is rumoured to be called 3D Emojis. According to a report by ETNews, Samsung’s 3D Emojis will be “more advanced” compared to Apple’s Animojis. As per the report 3D Emojis will create a 3D animated character by scanning a user’s face and also pick up fine movements of the face.

The second Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ teaser video above shows the smartphones’ low-light photography skills. A deer can be seen in a low lit setting and the entire frame is illuminated giving the shot more clarity when an image is clicked using the new Galaxy S9 devices. The cameras on the Galaxy S9, S9+ smartphones are expected to be their USP and could support a variable aperture. The smartphones will also likely borrow from Samsung Semiconductor’s new ISOCELL range of camera sensors, including ISOCELL Bright which is meant for low-light shots. The sensor will combine four normal-sized pixels into one large pixel.

The third and final teaser shows a man in a wingsuit flying across a scenic landscape and the video suddenly slows down immensely, hinting at the rumoured Super Slow-mo camera feature. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are expected to capture 1,000fps Super Slo-mo videos.

Looks like all the rumoured camera features of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are actually going to make it onto the smartphones. Head here to know more about the Galaxy S9, S9+ MWC reveal and expected specs, features.
