Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option in India. The 6GB RAM variant was first introduced in Korea and will now be available in India as well at Rs 74,900 starting June 9. The smartphone can be pre-booked on Samsung Shop and Flipkart starting June 2 and will only be available in midnight black colour option.
To recall, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were first announced in March and went on sale in select markets starting April 21. The handset is the first to feature company's new Infinity design language with a dual curved edge-to-edge display. The smartphone continues to use metal and glass for its build and supports IP68 water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy S8+ features a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD+ resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels and a screen to body ratio of 84 percent. The handset is powered by Exynos 8895 processor and runs TouchWiz based Android 7.0 Nougat. On the camera front, the smartphone features the same 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and dual pixel autofocus like the one found on last year's model. The front camera has been updated with a new 8MP sensor with autofocus, 4K video recording and wider f/1.7 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy S8+ also features a new AI assistant named Bixby, which doesn't support voice at this moment and can be activated with a dedicated button. The smartphone also supports wireless payment service called Samsung Pay and offers a biometric unlocking feature like iris scanner. The handset is backed by a 3500mAh battery and uses USB Type-C port for charging along with support for wireless charging.
