The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipsets. The handsets are rumoured to launch on March 29.
Samsung is likely to announce the official launch date of the Galaxy S8+ at MWC later this month. According to rumours, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be made official at an event in New York on March 29. Ahead of that official announcement, noted tipster Evan Blass has tweeted full specifications of the Galaxy S8+.
Samsung is reportedly launching the Galaxy S8 series only with curved displays this year. The larger model will feature a 6.2-inch display when measured as a full rectangle, or 6.1-inch considering the rounded corners. The display will be a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED panel, with resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone will be the first to feature Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage in the base model.
As far as the camera is concerned, the Galaxy S8+ will sport a 12MP rear camera with dual pixel autofocus and an 8MP front camera. The handset will be IP68 dust- and water-resistant, and run on the latest Android operating system.
The leak also reaffirms that the Galaxy S8 will come with an Iris scanner, and the fingerprint sensor will be moved to the back. The Galaxy S8+ is rumoured to house a 3600mAh battery, and this leak confirms it to come with wireless charging support. The wireless charger will be sold separately. There is also a mention of in-box earphones being made by AKG, which suggests that Samsung is not doing away with the 3.5mm audio jack.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the most anticipated flagship smartphones of this year. The launch of these new flagships has become even more important after the failure of the Galaxy Note7. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be cheaper than Apple's iPhone 7, and the two Google Pixel phones.
