Samsung S8 leaks and rumors refuse to die down and the latest round point at bigger screens and bigger batteries. Clearly, the bezels will have to be non-existent to make these big phones manageable.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will reportedly come with a 3000mAh and 3500mAh battery. Yes, we're talking batteries, the touchy (rather steamy) topic which engilfed Samsung Note series in 2016. While rumours in the past have mostly detailed the upcoming Galaxy S8's display and other specifications, this is the most concrete detail about the battery. The battery capacity of the Galaxy S8 Plus is same as that of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
The information about upcoming Galaxy S8's battery capacity comes from The Investor which cites a Samsung official as saying, "After completing a rage of tests, Samsung made a final decision to deploy the battery capacity for the two S8 variants." The batteries are reportedly made by Japan's Murata manufacturing and Samsung SDI. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are rumoured to launch on March 29 and go on sale in South Korea starting April 21.
The handsets are rumoured to sport a 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch displays with a dimension similar to that of existing S7 and S7 edge. It has been confirmed that Galaxy S8 will be the first smartphone to house Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor while Exynos variant will be offered in select markets. The storage options with Galaxy S8 is expected to be either 4 or 6GB RAM and 64 or 128GB storage. Samsung is also expected to throw in support for up to 256GB microSD card.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are tipped to come with same 12MP rear camera but support dual ADC and dual pixel autofocus for better colour reproduction and depth. Other changes tipped include the fingerprint sensor moving to the back and continued support for IP68 water and dust resistance. The large focus is expected to be on Samsung's virtual assistant codenamed Bixby. The leaked renders indicate Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have a dedicated key to access the assistant. Samsung has also filed a trademark for the word 'Hello', which could be the wake up word for Bixby.
The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are likely to launch during a multi-city event on March 29. The handsets are tipped to be cheaper than Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus at the time of launch.
