The phone is also tipped to be unveiled at MWC next year
Samsung's next generation flagship device, the Galaxy S8, might feature a 4K display and has reportedly been given the codename Project Dream, which might allude to it being compatible with Google VR platform, Daydream. According to a report by Mydrivers, the device may be unveiled in February at MWC next year, and is tipped to sport a 10nm processor, 6GB memory and even dual-cameras. Google has already stated that there are a set of basic hardware requirements a smartphone has to fulfill in order to be compatible with Daydream.
Back in May, Samsung showcased a smartphone display that is specifically aimed at VR. It featured a 5.5-inch 4K display with a pixel density of 806ppi, which helps to improve the VR experience as it makes the images much crisper. Further, Samsung also showcased a technology called Bio Blue that reduces blue light levels in displays. This could potentially reduce eye strains caused by VR, and allow users to enjoy a longer playing time.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 might not be the only device by the company to sport a 4K display. A few months ago, it was reported that Samsung may launch five flagship devices next year including one called the Galaxy X. The phone is tipped to have a 4K foldable display. Samsung is already tipped to start mass production of foldable displays by the end of the year.
