Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are expected to sport a new streamlined design and a voice-activated virtual assistant

Samsung Galaxy S8+ branding has leaked online ahead of the planned launch of the device late March. The leak comes from Twitter user Evan Blass and confirms Samsung will name the larger Galaxy flagship as 'Galaxy S8+'. According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, the Galaxy S8 is likely to be unveiled at an event in New York late next month. The smartphone is expected to ditch the physical home button in favour of a near bezelless design. The handset is expected to come only with curved displays this time and will likely house a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels.

The Galaxy S8 will also be the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor. Qualcomm is promising improved performance and battery life with the newest chip built on 10nm architecture. Render leaks in the past have indicated that Samsung will move the fingerprint sensor to the back, while there will also be an iris scanner for unlocking the device. Recent leaks have hinted at Samsung offering a single rear camera on both the models along with 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively.

As WSJ notes, the highlight here is the streamlined design and a new virtual assistant. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will reportedly feature a dedicated button to access Bixby virtual assistant. Apart from answering questions, Bixby is also expected to offer feature like image search directly from the camera. The virtual assistant is also expected to support up to eight languages at the time of launch.

With the launch of Galaxy S8, Samsung will be hoping to put the failure of the Galaxy Note 7 behind, while the biggest challenge for the South Korean company will be to win back the consumer confidence.
