Samsung has started rolling out the software fix for the red tint display issue on its new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ in India. The update was earlier rolling out to South Korea and select European countries. The software update has the build number XXU1AQDG.
To recall, some early adopters of the phone complained of a red tint on the display of their devices. The company said that the issue wasn’t hardware related, but was caused by the nature of AMOLED displays. Once the device is updated, users will see a ‘Full Screen Balance’ option in the Adaptive Display settings and a ‘Screen Edge Colour Balance’ option in the Screen Mode menu. This will let them adjust the display as per their preferences.
To recall, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ in India a few weeks back and are priced at Rs. 57,900 and Rs. 64,900 in India. Both offer pretty much the same set of specifications except for the screen size and battery. While the Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch display and a 3000mAh battery, the Galaxy S8+ is equipped with a 6.2-inch display and a 3500mAh battery. Both devices come with the company’s Infinity display that has a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels and a ratio of 18.5:9. Samsung has opted to ditch the physical home button with the two devices, and has opted to embed the button below the display. The fingerprint sensor on the other hand has been moved to the back. The phones are also the first to come with the company’s own AI-based assistant, Bixby, which has a dedicated physical button located on the edge of the smartphones.
