Samsung's latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, are now available for purchase in India. The smartphones announced globally on March 29, and were unveiled in India on April 19 with the company taking preorders for the devices on the same day. A report a few days back indicated that the preordered units have started shipping ahead of schedule. The handsets are available online from Samsung Shop and Flipkart and will also be available offline from select retail stores as well.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are the first flagship devices from the company since the Galaxy Note 7, which was recalled due to faulty batteries. The new smartphones sport the company's Infinity Display design with larger display packed into a smaller frame. The handsets also feature a now familiar metal and glass design like its predecessors.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch display, while Galaxy S8+ packs a larger 6.2-inch display. Both the devices are powered by company's own Exynos 8895 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is a 12MP rear camera with dual-pixel autofocus and f/1.7 aperture, while at the front is an 8MP sensor with autofocus. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature an iris scanner, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ run Android 7.0 Nougat based TouchWiz UI. The smartphones also feature a dedicated button for the company's Bixby AI assistant, which doesn't support voice at the time of launch. Both the devices are backed by a 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries respectively and support fast charging and wireless charging. The Galaxy S8 is priced at Rs 57,900 while S8+ will retail for Rs 64,900.
