After the success of Galaxy S4 mini, Samsung is supposedly working on the S4 Active mini as a Benchmark site has revealed specs of the Active Mini

Samsung is reportedly working on a mini version of the Galaxy S4, which ended up being quite a success when launched this summer.

Identified by its model number GT-I8580, the Active mini will have specifications smaller than its counterpart – the Galaxy S4 mini. Its not as mini as it sounds as it will come with 4.65-inch screen.

According to GFXBench benchmark data, the Active mini (GT-I8580) will be powered by a dual-core QualComm Snapdragon processor cloocking at 1.2 GHz. The screen will have a resolution of 800×480 pixel along with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM, bundled with a 5MP rear and 0.3MP front camera.

It will run on the Android Jelly Bean  4.2 and should be 9mm in thickness weighing around 135 grams.

Apart from the design language with water and dust resistance, the mini version is  substantially lower in terms of specs. This could be good tactical move to capitalise emerging trends, with more people opting for the Active brand if the device is reasonably priced. Something like what Apple did with the launch of the iPhone 5C only for the Asian markets.
