A couple of months back, Apple unveiled its iPhone 16 series, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max got the majority of the attention. As we have now entered the new year, all eyes are on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is going to be its closest competitor. Although there are still a few days left before the South Korean tech giant unveils its next lineup of flagship phones, rumours, and leaks have painted a clear picture for us. Thanks to that we know what specs we can get with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and on the basis of that, I will do a comparison of both these high-end phones.
Before we start the comparison, let me tell you the launch date and price expectations of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the pricing of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. So, Samsung will launch the new Galaxy S25 lineup, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra globally on January 22 in San Jose, California. It is expected to debut in India at a starting price of Rs 1,34,999. On the other hand, the base variant of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is available in India for Rs 1,44,900.
Now, let’s begin our comparison!
This time around, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to retain its titanium frame. However, it can get slight curvature on the top and bottom. It will also have its signature S-pen. iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, got a new Desert Titanium variant. It has thinner bezels and a new Camera Control button.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra can feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED with an adaptive refresh rate which ranges from 1-120Hz refresh rate. It can also have an anti-reflective coating. It’s competitor, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, has a 6.9-inch ProMotion display, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dynamic Island notch.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite chipset paired with 12GB RAM. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is powered by Apple’s in-house A18 Pro chip which is paired with 8GB RAM. Both of these phones also have AI features.
On the camera front, the Galaxy S25 Ultra can feature a Quad-camera setup with a 200MP main sensor, dual telephoto lenses, and an ultrawide sensor. Comparatively, the iPhone 16 Pro Max features a triple camera setup, that includes- a 48MP main, 48MP ultrawide, and 12MP telephoto camera.
Lastly, the Galaxy S25 Ultra can hold a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, features a 4,685mAh battery with up to 27W wired charging support.
