Samsung Galaxy S25 launch officially announced, budget foldable, XR device also launching in 2025
Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series will roll out in the first half of 2025.
Samsung seems to be exploring ways to bring a cheaper foldable smartphone to the market.
Samsung also hinted at the XR device, which will be created in collaboration with Google.
Samsung has dropped some exciting teasers for 2025 along with its latest earnings. I am talking about the most-awaited Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Samsung’s anticipated XR device, and even a budget-friendly foldable that has been on the grapevine for a while now. Samsung has announced all these details in a blog post posted on the South Korean Samsung Newsroom website.
Now, for the big news: Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series will roll out in the first half of 2025, which we all had clue but it’s always nice to hear an official announcement about these flagship devices. Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series in January this year, so you can expect a similar timeline for the Galaxy S25 lineup. The series is set to advance Galaxy’s AI to drive daily innovations, alongside expanded marketing and user experience initiatives.
Another highlight is a cheaper foldable. Samsung seems to be exploring ways to bring a foldable smartphone to the market that can be bought without breaking the bank, so more people get to experience foldable tech. It’s a notable shift, as Samsung’s been pretty hesitant about budget-friendly foldables before. But with the foldable market still developing, they seem open to switching things up.
Samsung also hinted at the XR device, which will be created in collaboration with Google, and will be powered by Qualcomm and Android. It was initially planned for 2024 but now looks like 2025 is the target. Samsung even hinted earlier about a developer version of the device this October, but with no updates, 2025 is looking more realistic.
Now if we talk about Samsung’s numbers, in Q3 2024, Samsung’s “device experience” division, covering smartphones, reported a KRW 3.37 trillion profit. Looking ahead, they’re aiming for “limited” growth in Q4 with a heavy focus on expanding premium product sales and stepping up their AI game.
In other updates, Samsung aims to boost its Samsung Health ecosystem, which now includes the Galaxy Ring, and plans to keep expanding connectivity between its devices, including the upcoming XR device—rumored to be smart glasses.
