HIGHLIGHTS

Each model of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series was dropped from a height of six feet.

The test results suggest that the Galaxy S24 series didn't do well when dropped.

It seems that this year's Galaxy S smartphones might not be as durable as one might have anticipated.

Samsung recently launched its flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup. This series includes three smartphone models: the Samsung Galaxy S24, the Samsung Galaxy S24+, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Recent drop tests indicate that Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones might not be as durable as one might have anticipated.

In order to promote its smartphone protection plans, Allstate shared a video on YouTube in which they dropped each model of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series from a height of six feet onto the sidewalk, reports Android Authority.

Allstate dropped each phone flat on its front and back, just like they did with the Galaxy S23 series last year.

The test results suggest that the Galaxy S24 series didn’t do well when dropped. The Samsung Galaxy S24 model– made with similar materials to the Galaxy S23 smartphone– suffered similar damage as the Galaxy S23 but became unusable after just one front down drop. The Galaxy S24 Plus also became unusable after drops from both the front and back.

Speaking to the Ultra model, the S24 Ultra boasts a new titanium frame and upgraded cover materials compared to its predecessor. However, it shattered after just one drop from both the front and back.

In contrast, last year, the S23 series was dropped twice from a height of six feet, both from the front and back. While the S23 became unusable after one face-down drop, the S23 Plus and Ultra survived. Particularly, the S23 Ultra faced only some damage to the display and cameras.

Based on the results, it seems that this year’s Galaxy S handsets might be somewhat more fragile compared to the previous generation. So, it is advised to use a good-quality phone case.
