The internet was abuzz when Apple introduced titanium frames for its iPhones. But now it seems like many are going to follow suit and introduce titanium bezels for their smartphones. The one on our radar right now is the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Well, for starters, Samsung is not new to titanium. It has already been using it for its smartwatches like on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

Well not much is known about Samsung’s plans to go titanium yet. But if rumours are to be believed then unlike Apple, who limited titanium bezels to its Pro models, Samsung is not going to take that route.
Tipster Revegnus took to X (formerly Twitter) and said that “the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra all have titanium frames”. He even added that for the base model of the S24 series, Samsung is going to produce the titanium frames in-house at its South Korea factory and for the other two smartphones, i.e., the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra, it will source them from its partner companies.

But I would suggest that we should not take this news as is. Another leaker, Ice Universe, replied to Revegnus’ tweet and said, “Only Ultra”, which means that only the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could have the titanium built.
Now what will the titanium frames do and why is there a switch? Chatter on the internet believes that this switch to titanium frames will reduce the weight of the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series. But as was the case with the iPhone 15 Pro variants, it might not make a major difference in terms of the weight.
We will have to wait till early next year to find out Samsung’s exact plans and how things will be uncovered for the Galaxy S24 series.
