New rumours on the Internet have surfaced a day before the grand unveiling of Samsung’s next big thing. These new rumours suggest that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IV will feature a 3D camera and will also sport the PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU.
Information has surfaced on the Internet, which suggests that the S IV will have the ability to take 3D stills as well as movies. A patent has been filed by Samsung with the US Patent and Trademark Office showcasing the logo for 2D to 3D movies and stills.
Patent Bolt says, “Samsung's trademark filing published on March 05, 2013 was filed under International Class 009 which technically covers the following: "Application software for smart phones; application software for tablet computers; digital cameras; USB flash drives; mobile telephones; portable media players; portable computers; rechargeable batteries; smart phones; tablet computers; wireless headsets; lenses for cameras."”
This isn’t the first time a smartphone will try to implement 3D technology in a smartphone. Remember the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC Evo 3D? Well, apart from showcasing a 3D display, the smartphones also had a 3D camera. The 3D smartphones never really took off and with the lack of 3D techs presences at CES 2013; we can safely say that the consumer has rejected the technology for home use.
But a 3D camera tech isn’t the only new rumour around the Galaxy S IV. Sam Mobile has reported that the S IV may house a 2600mAh battery. The information about the 2600mAh battery comes from a YouTube video. You can take a look at the leaked YouTube video of the S IV below.
In the meanwhile, Imagination Technologies, who designs the PowerVR line of GPUs, says the PowerVR SGX 544's IP has been used in the Exynos 5 Octa chipset. “During the recent months, including at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and MWC (Mobile World Congress) industry events, several of our partners have announced important new SoCs and/or end-user products incorporating our IP. We can now confirm that Samsung’s Exynos 5410 ‘Octa’ incorporates Imagination’s PowerVR SGX544MP core.”
If rumours, speculations and leaks are to be believed, then the Samsung Galaxy S IV is expected to run on the Exynos 5 Octa. Although there is alternate information, which suggests that some variants of the S IV may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600.
