Samsung recently launched its new Galaxy Note10 series of flagship smartphones in India. The new lineup consists of two handsets, the Samsung Galaxy Note10 and the bigger variant, the Galaxy Note10+. Both phones share some similarities in terms of specifications but as always, the screen size varies for the two devices. They both are powered by the newly announced Samsung Exynos 9825 SoC, which is the company’s new 7nm SoC that is fabricated via Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUV) process. Both the Galaxy Note10 and the Galaxy Note10+ sport an Infinity-O display with the hole punched right in the centre. The Galaxy Note10 range of smartphones sport thinner bezels than it predecessor, and feature the curved display design. On the back, there is a vertically-aligned camera stack on the top-left corner. This is a major design change for the company as, until now, it went for the centrally-placed horizontally-aligned camera setup on its premium phones.
The Samsung Galaxy Note10 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ Cinematic Infinity Display that has a 2280x1080p resolution with 401ppi. The Galaxy Note10+ sports a whopping 6.8-inch Quad HD+ screen with 3040x1440p resolution and 498ppi. Samsung calls the screen a Dynamic AMOLED display, and it comes with an HDR10+ certification and Dynamic Tone Mapping. The Galaxy Note10 and the Galaxy Note10+ are offered in two processor options.
In India, the handsets are equipped with a 64-bit 7nm octa-core Exynos 9825 SoC that has a max. 2.7 GHz clock speed with 2.4 GHz + 1.9 GHz core speed configuration. In the US, the Note10 series is powered by the 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset (Max. 2.8 GHz + 2.4 GHz + 1.7 GHz).
There’s also an AI-based Game Booster on the phones that is said to optimise performance and power consumption, depending on the game and app that is running. There’s also a PlayGalaxy Link P2P streaming service that enables users to pick up where they left off on any PC game and continue playing with no need for local storage. Samsung says that its Galaxy Note10 phones are equipped with the world’s slimmest vapour chamber cooling system, which is touted to keep the device temperature in check. Further, the regular Note10 is backed by a 3500mAh battery, and a 4300mAh battery pack powers the Galaxy Note10+. The two phones come with 45W wired charging and Wireless PowerShare support.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy Note10 sports a 16MP sensor that is coupled with f/2.2 ultra-wide lens (123 degree), a 12MP sensor with 2PD autofocus and a lens with variable aperture (f/1.5-f/2.4) with OIS support, and a third telephoto lens that goes with the 12MP sensor. On the front, it sports a 10MP sensor with 2PD autofocus. On the plus variant, Samsung has added a fourth DepthVision VGA (Time of Flight) camera as well.
The S Pen on the new Galaxy Note10 phones also gets a rehaul with a re-designed, uni-body S Pen. It can instantly convert a users’ handwriting to digital text in Samsung Notes, and export it to a variety of different formats, including Microsoft Word. It also features Air Actions that allow developers to create custom controls for their app, which means the S Pen could be used to control an app or play games.
The 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version of the Samsung Galaxy Note10 will be available for Rs 69,999. The Galaxy Note 10+ comes in a 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version, and is priced at Rs 79,999. The 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model of the handset costs Rs 89,999. Both phones were announced in Aura Glow, Aura Black and Aura White colours, and are up for sale via Amazon.in, Flipkart, Paytm, Tata Cliq, and Samsung's online store.
Coming to launch offers, those who pre-ordered the Galaxy Note10 series of handsets will get the Galaxy Watch Active at Rs 9,999, and the Galaxy Buds for Rs 4,999. Those who buy the phones now will also get free access to YouTube Premium for 6 months. HDFC Bank credit card customers can avail a cashback of Rs 6,000 with the handsets at retail outlets and the Samsung Online Store. ICICI Bank credit or debit cards holders can avail the same offer when buying the phones from Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm Mall, and Tata Cliq. One will also get an option of no-cost EMI, and 10 percent additional exchange bonus via Cashify.
