Samsung Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear smartwatch may come to India this month
The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note III and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will launch in India in September, according to reports online.
If online reports are to be believed, then Samsung’s latest phablet, the Galaxy Note III will be available to consumers in India by the end of the month. The Note III along with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be unveiled at an event in New Delhi on September 17 and the devices will go on sale on September 25.
The Galaxy Note III will be priced under Rs. 50,000. The Note III that will launch in India will be powered by the Exynos 5 Octa chipset. The Indian variant of the phablet will lack LTE connectivity, which isn’t such a deal breaker as the technology isn’t available in the country. What may be a deal breaker is the fact that the video recording capabilities of the Note III will be limited to 1080p. At its IFS launch, the Note III showed off the ability to shoot video in 4K but the feature will not be available to Note III users in India. At launch, the Note III will be available in three colours – black, white and pink. To maintain the low price in India, Samsung may launch a 16GB variant of the phablet.
The Galaxy Note III brings with it a set of interesting features such as USB 3.0, 3GB RAM, S Pen apps and updated UI. The Note III has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display and runs on Android 4.3 out of the box. A 3200mAh battery powers the entire package. The Octa-core processor is clocked at 1.9GHz. The phablet is just 8.3mm thick weighing a mere 168 grams. The rear houses a 13MP camera.
Coming to the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, the device will be priced at Rs. 18,000. The Gear smart-watch has a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, and there’s also a 1.9MP camera on the strap, which allows you to record video in Full HD. The watch has a 315mAh battery and weighs 73.8 grams. The smartwatch comes with 4GB of internal storage, and Samsung claims that there are 70 popular apps waiting for download, including Pocket, Path and Runkeeper. Samsung’s own apps – ChatON, S-Voice, Memo etc., have also been optimized for the Galaxy Gear.
At the launch event Samsung announced that the Galaxy Note III and the Galaxy Gear would launch in 149 countries starting September 25. It’s nice to see that India is on their priority list.
