Samsung has started shipping the Galaxy Note 8 to those who pre-ordered the flagship smartphone in India. The Galaxy Note 8 was launched in India on September 12 and pre-order began for the device on the same day. Since its official launch last month, the South Korean smartphone maker has rolled out the device to 42 countries.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 is priced at Rs 67,900 and will be available online from the Samsung e-store, Amazon India and authorised offline retail channels. The smartphone will go on sale starting Friday, September 22, and Amazon India is still taking pre-orders for the device. Samsung is offering a free wireless charger and one time screen replacement within a year for Rs 990 to those pre-ordering the smartphone. Additionally, HDFC Bank credit card users can get cashback of Rs 4,000 and even avail no cost EMI option. Reliance Jio is offering additional data benefit of 448GB to Note 8 buyers.
The Galaxy Note 8 is the successor to last year's ill-fated Note 7 and is the first meaningful upgrade to Note 5 users. At the launch, Samsung announced a special upgrade program for existing Galaxy Note series users. The Note 8 follows on the design language first seen on the Galaxy S8 with a 6.3-inch Infinity Display design and an Octa-core Exynos 8895 chipset. The Galaxy Note 8 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. In comparison to the Galaxy S8+, it differs only in the camera department and S Pen functionality.
The biggest addition to the Galaxy Note 8 is the dual rear camera system. The smartphone features dual 12MP rear cameras with one wide-angle lens and another telephoto lens. Both the lenses support optical image stabilisation and the telephoto lens is capable of 2x optical zoom. The Note 8 also gets an 8MP front camera with autofocus, similar to the one found on the Galaxy S8 series.
The Note 8 comes with an enhanced S Pen that offers users replaceable tips and support for translation and live message features. The handset also supports iris scanning, Samsung Pay contactless payments and DeX desktop interface. The Galaxy Note 8 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is backed by a modest 3300mAh battery.
