Samsung Galaxy Note 8 goes on pre-orders overseas, India awaits
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected in India in September, but it doesn't seem like Samsung will stick to the September 15 sale date here.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is now available for pre-orders in certain overseas markets, including the United States. The device is expected to go on sale from September 15 onwards, but it seems Indian users will have to wait a tad longer. While we confirmed earlier that the Note 8 will be coming to India next month, the device is only on “pre-registration” here right now, which could mean that Samsung isn’t planning the same sale date for India.
That said, the Galaxy Note 8 should certainly start selling in India by the end of September. Samsung would want to keep a healthy lead against Apple’s iPhone, which is expected to come to India around October. Initial reports suggest that the phone will cost users Rs. 70,000 or above, but there’s no confirmation on the same yet.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the company’s first smartphone with dual-cameras. It has 6GB of RAM and runs on the Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm. Additionally, you get a 6.3 inch QHD display on the device and Samsung’s proprietary S-Pen as well. The company has also added an 8MP front shooter and the Note 8 runs on Android 7.1.1 out-of-the-box. It is expected to be updated to Android O by early next year.
From the looks of it, the Galaxy Note 8 is poised to be amongst the most expensive smartphones this year. Apple’s iPhone 8 is rumoured to start at a $999 price tag, making it even more expensive.
