Now that the Galaxy Note 7 is out of production, Samsung has introduced several unique software features of that device to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. This includes an updated version of the Always on Display. XDA Developers Forum notes that version 1.4.02 of the feature includes advanced customization options for the clock and the calendar apps along with music options. It also brings support for the SView and Keyboard covers. However features related to the S Pen and will not be available. Further, TheNextWeb reports that the Samsung email app notifications are not visible on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge phones.
Users can get the new updates via the Galaxy App Store. Alternatively users can go to ‘Settings’, click on ‘Display’, then on the ‘About Always On Display’ option. Then select the ‘Update’ button. It is speculated that the new updates are aimed at users who shifted from the Note 7 to either the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge.
