Samsung Galaxy Note 7 variant with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage headed to China
Samsung’s Mobile Division’s President said that the company is working on the variant of the phone in order to compete better in the Chinese market.
Samsung's flagship phones are usually among the most powerful and feature-packed phones that money can buy, and the recently unveiled Galaxy Note 7 is no exception. However, the one place where the phone fell behind its competitors was in the amount of RAM being offered. While the phone offers 4GB of RAM, other manufacturers like OnePlus and LeEco are already packing their flagship phones with 6GB of RAM.
However, it seems like Samsung is planning to launch a 6GB RAM variant of the phone. In an interview with the Korea Herald, Samsung Mobile Division’s President, Koh Dong-Jin confirmed that the company does have a higher RAM version of the phone in the works, but it will only be available in China. When he was asked about reports of a Galaxy Note 7 with 6GB RAM/128GB storage that was spotted on TENAA, he said, “It is true that we are reviewing the rollout of a new tablet with 128 gigabyte built-in memory in China because Chinese companies are aggressively doing marketing with high-capacity memory.”
Earlier this year, there were reports that Samsung was planning to offer the phone with 6GB of RAM. So when the company unveiled the device last week, a few people might have been a bit disappointed that the phone 'only’ offered 4GB of RAM. While it is not known if Samsung would eventually offer that variant of the phone in other countries, the question still remains, do we really need 6GB of RAM in our phones right now? Or more importantly, if the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant is priced at nearly Rs. 60,000, how much would a 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant cost?
