The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is nearing launch, if latest reports are to be believed. According to a report by South Korean website, ETNews, the company is going to start mass producing the device from next month. Samsung initially plans to produce about 2.5 million smartphones in July, and 5 million more devices by August 2016. The report also mentions, since the initial supply of Galaxy Note 5 smartphones was about 5 million in the first quarter after being launched, Samsung now expects the upcoming device to sell better. The Galaxy Note 6 (or Note 7) is expected to be unveiled on August 2.
Information about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been around in leaks and rumours for a while now. To bring continuity to its naming scheme, Samsung is reportedly planning to skip a number this year. The device was long rumoured to be launched as the Galaxy Note 6, but recent change of plans point at it being called Note 7. Reports suggest that the reason behind this move is to avoid any inconsistencies that would occur when two flagship devices from the same year are numbered differently.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is tipped to feature a dual-edge screen with a curved glass back. Further, it was recently reported that the phone may feature an iris scanner made by camera module maker, Patron. The Galaxy Note 7 may also feature a whopping 8GB of RAM, and might be powered by a Snapdragon 821 SoC.
