Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 7 on August 11. The company has sent out press invites for an event scheduled to be held on that day with the tagline, “the next big galaxy is here,” along with images of styli. While the company hasn’t explicitly stated that it will launch its new flagship in India on that day, the images of the styli more or less confirm this, as Samsung used similar teaser images before the launch of the Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung launched the devices’ predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5, in September last year. So if the company launches the phone on August 11, it will be a sign of how seriously the company takes the Indian market. Further, an August launch will also give the company nearly month’s head start over Apple’s next iPhone, which is tipped to be available for pre-order next month.
To recall, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was unveiled last week and sports a 5.7-inch dual-curved QHD display, similar to the one found on the Galaxy S7 Edge. The phone is available in two variants, one powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC and another powered by the Exynos 8890, and both come with 4GB of RAM. The company will most likely release the Exynos powered variant in India. The camera setup is also the same as the Galaxy S7 lineup. At the back is a 12MP DualPixel camera, while at the front is a 5MP camera. Other features of the phone include 64GB of base storage, IP68 certification, and Gorilla Glass 5.
