Samsung’s upcoming phablet could sport 6GB of RAM, faster 128GB UFS 2.0 storage and maybe an RGB matrix display

While we are just days away from the Samsung’s Galaxy S7 launch, rumours of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 have started to surface. Latest rumours suggest that the next iteration the Galaxy Note might come with a whopping 6GB of RAM and a slightly larger 5.8-inch display. Besides that, the latest rumour also suggests the phone maker might offer the phone in two storage variants — 64GB and 128GB. In comparison, the current gen Galaxy Note 5 comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage in the base model.

The new rumour comes from a Weibo user HQ vision who claims that the next Galaxy Note will have 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Here, It should be mentioned that Samsung started making 6GB RAMs for mobile devices back in September 2015 and many upcoming Chinese flagships phones are rumored to offer the same. Thus, it is a possibility that later this year we may see flagship phones such as the Note 6 feature 6GB RAM. According to rumours, the Note 6 will sport a 5.8-inch display with a 2K resolution making it 0.1-inches larger than the current 5.7-inch display on the Note 5. The rumour also claims that, Samsung will be using an “RGB matrix” display. To give you some context, Samsung hasn't used an RGB matrix display on a flagship device since the Galaxy SII. It is also suggested that the display will have 1024 pressure points, which seems odd as the current Galaxy Note 5 uses almost double, 2048 pressure points.

According to the rumour the phone will be available in 64GB and 128GB UFS 2.0 storage options. This is a faster storage option than the eMMC storage smartphones currently use. UFS 2.0 compliant storage is 2.7 times faster than normal eMMC 5.0. It also uses almost 50 percent lower energy. Samsung started mass production of the 128GB UFS 2.0 (Universal Flash Storage) compliant memory back in February 2015. Also, the Samsung’s Galaxy Note 6 might come with a 12MP rear camera with super OIS. As for other specifications, the leakster suggest that the upcoming phablet will be offered in two SoC options and a larger battery.

The Note series of phones are currently one of the biggest phone/phablet range Samsung makes. The phone maker launches the next iteration of the Galaxy Note, annually around September. The Galaxy Note 5 is currently one of the most powerful phone Samsung makes. This however will change with the launch of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which are slated to be announced on February 21, a day before MWC 2016 kicks off.
