The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G packs a vibrant display.
Both smartphones are packed with a 5000mAh battery with up to 45-watt fast charging.
Samsung is back with its Galaxy M series! The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G is now available in India at a starting price of ₹26,999. This smartphone looks like any other Samsung smartphone, featuring three cameras on the back placed vertically. Moreover, it packs all the next-gen specifications along with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, a 120Hz AMOLED display, and much more. In this article, I am comparing the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G with the much-hyped Nothing Phone (2a). Let’s go!
Nothing Phone (2a) aces the design, obviously!
I believe the Nothing Phone (2a) sits in the list of best designs of smartphones. When Nothing launched the Phone (1), the USP was the aesthetic design and OS. The Nothing Phone (2a) features a transparent back panel that houses a Glyph LED for notifications. The smartphone comes with flat edges and looks neat. There is a dual camera setup right at the centre, something we didn’t see in older Nothing phones. It comes in two colours: Black and White. Additionally, it also comes with an IP54 rating against splash and dust.
Coming to the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G, it comes with a plastic back that kind of looks like frosted glass and it has the same Samsung triple camera setup on the back. The smartphone comes in two colour options: Denim Black and Light Green. I liked Nothing Phone (2a)’s design more but if your aesthetic is solid and matte, the Galaxy M55 5G could impress you.

Display: Samsung Galaxy M55 5G for vibrancy, Nothing Phone (2a) for brightness
Both smartphones come with pretty impressive displays. The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G is equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung is known for its display. Whether something is good or not, the displays in its devices are brilliant. Just like that, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G packs a vibrant display. In simple terms, the display is quite colourful. However, it lacks at providing good brightness and that’s where the Nothing Phone (2a) has the advantage.
The Nothing Phone (2a) also comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Although it has a brighter display than the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G, it is still less colourful. According to our tests, the Galaxy M55 5G has 855 nits of peak brightness, whereas, the Phone (2a) has 1209 nits of peak brightness.
For performance, I’ll choose Nothing Phone (2a): Here’s why
The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G is equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. It is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. This has been a long-time problem with Samsung’s mid-range and budget smartphones; they can’t provide good performance. In the AnTuTu testing, it scored 579968. On the other hand, the Nothing Phone (2a) scored 702338 with the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro processor.
That was about the processor. If we talk about their OS, I would still choose the Nothing Phone (2a). Despite having OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G contains a lot of pre-loaded apps. Whereas, the Phone (2a) features the Nothing OS 2.5, which is really aesthetic and clean.

And the camera award goes to…..Samsung Galaxy M55 5G
The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G is equipped with a triple camera setup, holding a 50-megapixel main camera with PDAF and OIS, an 8-megapixel Ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel Macro sensor. On the front, it sports a 50-megapixel selfie shooter.
On the other hand, the Nothing Phone (2a) has a dual camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary camera with PDAF and OIS and a 50-megapixel Ultrawide lens. On the front, it has a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
Why does the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G have a better camera? Well, firstly it has an additional sensor than the Phone (2a), which is the Macro sensor. Moreover, it captures more colourful pictures and the low-light pictures are sharper.
Same battery configurations in both phones
Both smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G and Nothing Phone (2a) are packed with a 5000mAh battery with up to 45-watt fast charging.
Which one to buy?
The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has been launched in India at a starting price ₹26,999. But, you’re also getting a ₹2000 discount on leading bank cards. On the other hand, the Nothing Phone (2a) is available on Flipkart at a starting price of ₹23,999. Now the pricing is the real twist in this comparison. If we talk about all the five key specifications, the Nothing Phone (2a) seems to be a better option. It has better design, performance, OS, and it’s less pricy.
So, that was all about Samsung Galaxy M55 5G vs Nothing Phone (2a). You let us know which one you liked the most and stay tuned for more comparisons.
