Samsung is set to add two new smartphones to its entry and mid-range Galaxy J lineup. The South Korean smartphone maker's upcoming devices – the Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) and the Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) – have appeared in benchmark listings ahead of their official launch. For Samsung, the Galaxy J2 has been one of the best selling smartphones in terms of volumes and these new phones will help the leader strengthen its position.
First, of the two devices, the Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) has appeared on a Geekbench listing, which suggests the use of a quad-core Snapdragon 430 chipset, clocked at 1.4GHz. The listing shows it will have 1,345MB memory, which could mean it will launch with 1.5GB RAM and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which is fine for a budget handset. The Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) bears the model number SM-J250F and the dual-SIM variant of the device has even appeared in South Africa.
Further, GFXBench has revealed specifications of another smartphone with model number G571, which could be the Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) since last year's model was named G570. The listing indicates it will sport a 4.8-inch display with 720p HD resolution and use Samsung's own Exynos 7570 chipset. It is expected to offer 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The purported Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) seems to feature a 12MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary camera. Both phones will support Full HD video recording. Samsung has not confirmed the existence or launch details of these devices but they are expected to arrive soon.
