Samsung Galaxy Fame Android smartphone launched in India for Rs. 11,120
The Samsung Galaxy Fame is also available on Flipkart at a lower price.
Amidst all the noise and the fury of the Galaxy Mega launch, Samsung has launched another Android dual-SIM smartphone, this one aimed at the budget segment. The Samsung Galaxy Fame is now listed on the Samsung India website for Rs. 11,120 and is also available on Flipkart for a lower price of Rs. 10,900. Even though this launch did pass under almost everyone’s radar, the Galaxy Fame’s launch was rumoured since last month.
The Galaxy Fame’s specs-sheet won’t really turn any heads as it does appear to be very boilerplate. The Galaxy Fame is powered by a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and supports Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth. It has a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution 320×480 pixels and has a primary 5 MP camera along with a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy Fame is 11.55 mm thin and weighs 120.6 grams. The phone sports a 1300 mAh battery that Samsung claims will provide up to six hours of 3G talktime and up to 300 hours of standby time.
The Galaxy Fame also boasts of software features like Change Display that lets you share the phone’s display over Wi-Fi, Motion UI that lets you control the phone using movement, access to a curated games store and ChatOn, Samsung’s IM service.
To be quite frank, the Galaxy Fame’s specs-sheet doesn’t seem to warrant its current price-tag. Let’s hope that price falls to a more realistic level soon.
