Samsung Galaxy F55 5G vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Which sub-₹25k phone would you choose?
HIGHLIGHTS

The design on both the smartphones that we are comparing today is the USP.

On paper, the Edge 50 Fusion has a better display.

Both have a 5,000 mAh battery.

The mid-range smartphone segment is getting pretty competitive and now the upcoming devices are offering a lot at the price. New smartphones are coming up with crazy features that we often see on flagship smartphones. And looks too, there’s no compromise on that. Today we are going to compare to really good looking smartphones that were launched recently- the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion and the Samsung Galaxy F55 5G. Let’s get to it.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion wins in design

Let’s start with the design first. The design on both the smartphones that we are comparing today is the USP. Both the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, as well as the Samsung Galaxy F55 5G offer a vegan leather finish on the back. The former also comes in two other variants- a Hot Pink variant with a vegan suede finish and a Forest Blue in smooth matte finish. Galaxy F55 5G also has another variant- Raisin Black.

Let’s consider the leather-finish variant for this comparison. The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes in a pretty and subtle pastel blue colour which is pretty soothing to the eyes. It is pretty light-weight (175 grams) and one of the slimmest smartphones of the segment too (7.8 mm).

Coming to the Galaxy F55 5G now, the smartphone comes in a vibrant orange colour, called Apricot Crush. It is Samsung’s first smartphone to feature a vegan leather finish. It also has a stitch-like pattern going around which adds an edge. It weighs 180 grams and has the same thickness as the Edge 50 Fusion (7.8mm).

I personally liked the design of the Edge 50 Fusion slightly more as it is more subtle.

Which display is better?

Coming to the display now, the Edge 50 Fusion sports a 6.7 ” FHD+ P-OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits of peak brightness. It comes with curved edges. The Galaxy F55 5G, on the other hand, has a 6.7 ” sAMOLED+ display with 120Hz of refresh rate and 1000 nits of peak brightness. It has a flat display.

On paper, the Edge 50 Fusion has a better display. Curved edges or flat display, you decide which one you like better.

Samsung Galaxy F55 5G vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Performance

Coming to performance now, the Edge 50 Fusion is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor whereas the Galaxy F55 5G runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. Both have decent chipsets for the price, but these are not the latest ones. Overall, both of these chips will offer decent performance in day to day tasks.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes in two storage variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. Samsung Galaxy F55 5G comes in three variants:  8GB+ 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB+ 256GB. It also has an expandable internal storage up to 1TB which Motorola doesn’t.

Coming to the UI now. Edge 50 Fusion runs on Android-14 based Hello UI which I really like as it doesn’t have a lot of bloatware and is pretty clean. The Galaxy F55 5G runs on Android-14 based OneUI 6.1, which is also pretty smooth.

Camera

Coming to my favourite part now, cameras. Motorola Edge 50 Fusion features a dual camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary camera and an additional 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. Galaxy F55 5G, on the other hand, has a triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and an additional 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies, you get a 32-megapixel selfie shooter on the Edge 50 Fusion, while the Galaxy F55 5G has a 50-megapixel front camera.

Same battery but fast charging matters

Both have a 5,000 mAh battery. Motorola offers 68W fast charging support while Samsung offers 45W fast charging support.

Samsung Galaxy F55 5G vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Price

Lastly, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion starts at ₹22,999 for the base variant and the Galaxy F55 5G starts at ₹24,999 with a ₹2000 launch discount. Both of these have bank offers running to bring the price down.

Personally I feel that the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion offers a better value for money. But which one did you like more? Let me know.
