Samsung Galaxy F54 launched in India under ₹30,000. It comes equipped with a 5nm Exynos 1380 chip, 6000mAh battery, 108MP main camera, and 120Hz display. At the same price, Motorola Edge 40 also starts and has some features that could lure prospective Samsung Galaxy F54 buyers.
1. Design-wise, Motorola Edge 40 is a slimmer and lighter device even though it has an aluminium frame. Even the option of eco-leather (faux-leather) back is good to have.
2. Samsung Galaxy F54 has a bigger FHD+ 120Hz Super AMOLED display but Motorola gives 144Hz pOLED with HDR10+ support. Motorola has embedded a fingerprint reader underneath the display.
3. For unlocking the Moto phone, you have a side-mounted scanner. Upon unlocking the display, you get Android 13 on both phones. Now, if you want a vanilla Android experience go with Motorola, else choose a more customizable and feature-dense OneUI skin on the Samsung handset.
4. Under the hood, Galaxy F54 has a 5nm Exynos 1380 and Edge 40 has MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. The latter has a higher clock speed and should fare better. But, until we test them side-by-side we reserve our judgement.
The 5nm process and a bigger 6000mAh battery should theoretically last longer than the competition but again, we can’t be sure until we test that. The good thing about Motorola Edge 40 is its faster 68W charging support. There is a 15W wireless charging facility too.
5. Samsung offers a slightly more diverse camera setup led by a 108MP (OIS) main camera. You get to shoot ultrawide as well as macro shots from the Samsung phone. Edge 40 only offers a 50MP primary camera and an ultrawide shooter.

You get to record 4K30fps videos from front and back on both phones.
Among other things, Motorola also equips the Edge 40 with a tri-band WiFi 6e while the F54 offers dual-band WiFi 6 only. It has an upper hand over Samsung for its use of Bluetooth 5.3. Both of them are priced at ₹29,999 for the solo 8+256GB model.
