Samsung Galaxy Express unveiled with 4.5-inch display and Jelly Bean
Samsung has added yet another device to its Galaxy portfolio. The Express boasts of a 4.5-inch display, has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out-of-the-box.
Samsung has announced the Galaxy Express, without a a launch date or a price tag. It will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out-of-the-box along with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
The Samsung Galaxy Express boasts of a 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. It has a 4.5-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display. The rear of the phone houses a 5MP camera with an LED flash and the front has a 1.3MP video-calling camera. The device comes preloaded with a slew of Samsung apps such as Samsung ChatOn mobile communication service, Samsung AllShare Play and S Beam. The device also supports Bluetooth 4.0 it has 8GB built in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card and a 2000mAh battery.
Since the price of the Galaxy Express isn’t known yet, it’s hard for us to say exactly which smartphones it will be competing with. But considering the obvious mid-range specifications, we think the Express will be priced around Rs. 20,000. For this price range, you can consider the Sony Xperia P, or the HTC Desire SV (dual-SIM). If you are looking for alternatives that don’t run on Android, you can take a look at the HTC Windows Phone 8S, which is priced under the Rs. 20,000 price point.
Recently, Samsung announced the Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082) in India, which boasts of dual-SIM capabilities, a 5-inch WVGA TFT display with a 480×800 pixel resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean straight out of the box and has Samsung TouchWiz UI. The Galaxy Grand is quite slim at 9.6mm, and weighs 162 grams. It has 8GB built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card.
Other specifications include an 8MP (BSI sensor) 1080p HD video recording capable rear camera, 2MP 720p HD capable front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 2100mAh battery.
