The smartphone features a 5MP camera and 2MP front-facing camera. The Core Prime comes with 8GB built-in storage along with a 2,000 mAh battery.

In the meanwhile, three versions of the Galaxy Core handset has been spotted on Teena, Chinese equivalent of US' FCC. The Teena listing shows the smartphone has dual-SIM and LTE connectivity.

The new smartphone will be competing against a range of entry-level Android smartphones, including the recently launched Android One phones. Samsung has started to make efforts to reestablish its position in the budget segment with the recent Grand Prime, which competes against the Moto G.
