Samsung recently sent out media invites, which mention “4X Fun”. A similar tagline was used while teasing the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2019) for the first time back in September, before its unveiling in Malaysia. The Galaxy A9 (2019) features four rear cameras and comes with a single camera sensor on the front. As the phone was already launched in Kuala Lumpur, we know what hardware it packs. However, the device’s India price and availability will be announced today, along with possibly some launch offers.
The launch event of the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) will be live streamed starting 12:30 PM today. The company will be streaming the event via its own newsroom, which you can visit here.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is powered by the Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2.2GHz and the remaining low-power cores running at 1.8GHz. It features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixel. The handset is backed by a 3800mAh battery that also supports fast charging and it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. It sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy A9 features a quad-camera setup on the rear, which is vertically aligned in the top left corner. There is a 24MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture lens, an 8MP sensor with a f/2.4,120-degree ultra wide lens, a 10MP sensor with a f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom and a 5MP depth-sensing camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, it comes with a 24MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The main cameras of the phone are said to use Pixel Binning technology to merge four pixels in one for capturing additional details.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2019) could be offered in two RAM variants of 6GB and 8GB, coupled with 128GB of internal storage. The phone will be a Flipkart exclusive since the online retailer has hosted a microsite dedicated to it. An earlier report suggests that the phone could be priced starting at Rs 38,000 in India even though globally, it starts at EUR 599 (Rs 48,800 approx).
