Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) will bear IP68 water and dust resistance
Samsung has reportedly started work on the 2017 versions of its Galaxy A lineup. The Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) will replace the existing lineup of Galaxy A devices available right now. Of the three devices, Galaxy A7 (2017) – the top end device in the range is now reported to feature water resistance, one of the key feature available on flagship Galaxy device.
According to Sammobile, the Galaxy A7 (2017) will bear model number SM-A720F and is likely to feature a 5.68-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. The smartphone is likely to be powered by company's Exynos 7880 SoC clocked at 1.8GHz. Lately, Samsung has been moving away from its dependency on chip makers by bundling its budget and mid-range smartphones with Exynos chipsets and 2017 will see a similar move.
The Galaxy A7 (2017) is likely to house 3GB DDR4 RAM, 32GB internal storage and a microSD slot for expandable storage. The Galaxy A7 (2017) is likely to sport a 7.8mm thick unibody metal and glass chassis and will bear IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is also likely to feature updated camera with a new 16MP rear snapper with f/1.9 aperture and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
Samsung, which is recovering from the recall of Galaxy Note7, is trying to cash in on the budget and mid-budget range for continued growth. Samsung has been successful with its J series and A series in emerging markets and Sammobile reports Samsung has already started testing Galaxy A3 (2017) in India. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) will likely feature a fingerprint sensor and switch to USB-C port for data and charging. The smartphone will offer regular connectivity options like LTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The Galaxy A7 (2017) is also rumoured to pack 3,600mAh battery.
It is unclear what operating system Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) will run at the time of launch, but it is likely to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and not Nougat. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) was announced in December and it is likely that the next iteration will be announced next month.
