HIGHLIGHTS

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will be premium mid-range smartphones from the company. The smartphones will likely compete with selfie-centric smartphones from Oppo and Vivo.

Samsung's 2018 Galaxy A series is the next in-line to get the Infinity Display design first seen on the flagship Galaxy S8 series. Renders of the Galaxy A (2018) first leaked earlier this month. Now, more renders of the series have appeared online.

MySmartPrice has posted detailed 3D renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) in collaboration of OnLeaks. The biggest difference will come in the form of larger display supporting a taller aspect ratio. The Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will sport 5.5-inch and 6-inch Full HD+ displays, larger than the 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch displays found on their predecessors. The devices will also support Always on Display feature.

The Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) are expected to be powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7885 chipset based on a 10nm process in some markets, while other markets are expected to get Snapdragon 660 variants. Another change is expected to come in the form of a dual selfie camera setup. The render show that the 2018 Galaxy A series will be the first Samsung devices to offer a dual front camera setup. They won't feature dual rear camera like the Galaxy Note 8, but will sport a rear fingerprint sensor placed below the camera module. Like the 2017 models, the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will be IP68 water and dust resistant and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Samsung recently announced price cuts on its Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) smartphones in India. The price cut indicates the company is preparing to launch the next generation models of Galaxy A series. The leaked renders indicate the Korean smartphone maker is preparing to target the premium mid-range segment where Oppo and Vivo are highlighting dual selfie cameras as one of the selling point.
