Samsung Galaxy A series 2017 smartphones will be waterproof and offer improvements in terms of performance

Samsung will announce the 2017 Galaxy A series on January 5. The company has started sending out media invites for an event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia confirming the reveal of Galaxy A series (2017).

Samsung Galaxy A series' (2017) launch invite comes right on the heels of a teaser from Samsung Malaysia. The smartphone is launching in Malaysia on the day which coincides with the start of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Samsung might announce the device in Malaysia for local audience and then showcase the device at CES for global markets.

The biggest addition to Galaxy A series (2017) is the addition of IPX7 water resistance, a feature found on Samsung's flagship devices. Samsung Malaysia's teaser also hints at the device being water-proof. While we don't know the exact Galaxy A series lineup this year, the 2017 Galaxy A5 has been part of major leaks in the past.

The smartphone is rumoured to sport a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1920X1080 pixels. The smartphone is expected to be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7880 chipset, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The device is likely to house a 3000 mAh battery. The leak also hints at Galaxy A5 packing a 16MP cameras on the front and the rear. The smartphone is tipped to be priced around Rs 27,000 and is likely to go on sale from mid-January.

For Samsung, the Galaxy J and Galaxy A series contribute the most in terms of revenue in emerging markets. With Galaxy A (2017) series, the Korean smartphone maker is expected to offer improved design and upgraded features at a cheaper starting price.
