Samsung on Monday has said that it will start selling refurbished Galaxy Note 7 devices. For those that don’t know, Samsung recalled the Note 7 from the market due to exploding batteries. The smartphones were recalled for the final time in October 2016.
Sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that Samsung was considering the possibility of selling refurbished versions of the Note 7 or reusing some parts. In a statement Samsung said, “Regarding the Galaxy Note 7 devices as refurbished phones or rental phones, applicability is dependent upon consultations with regulatory authorities and carriers as well as due consideration of local demand.”
Samsung is going to announce the Galaxy S8 smartphone tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29 in the US. The smartphone is expected to go on sale in April. If leaks and rumours are to be believed then Samsung will go guns blazing when it comes to features present in the Galaxy S8. The device will take on the upcoming iPhone. Apple will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone this year, so it is expected that the new iPhone will be revolutionary too. Speaking of upcoming flagships, Sony and LG have taken the HDR route when it comes to the displays with Sony boasting of a 4K display on its upcoming flagship and LG sticking with a 2K display. Both the LG G6 and Xperia XZ Premium will launch soon.
What remains to be seen is how the market reacts to the upcoming Samsung smartphones and the refurbished Galaxy Note 7. The company has been in the news in the recent past for all the wrong reasons.
